Just recently we have found the need to carry water more often than we used to. TSD number three Mona, doesn't always like to venture down into the rivers to take a drink. Being someone that isn't into gadgets or piling extra weight into a back pack, I knew solving this problem might be a little tricky. So we thought we would go about finding the best dog travel accessories for our TSDs.
You know that feeling when you are out on a bit of a trek and your dog is looking a little parched. Or you have one of those dogs that doesn't like to descend down the bank of a river to quench his thirst. So carrying a water bowl and bottle of water is just extra weight though isn't it. That and the times when you look in your backpack to see the water bottle has leaked and soaked everything.
Also what about the times when you are off out for the day and want something fairly compact to take with you to give water or food in. We had quite a list of requirements for our search and some products passed with flying colours so we thought we would share our findings with you to save you a little time when searching for your best dog travel accessories.

1. Our Favourite for All Round Use

It wasn't long before we found the perfect answer to our water carrier problem when we were searching for the best dog travel accessories.
This 2nd generation bottle from Lesotc met all our requirements and was topped off by the fact that Mona drank from it on its first use.
The bottle is lightweight but strong and clips easily to your belt loop or to a back pack with the carabiner clip that is provided. However, it is also leakproof so you could pop it inside your bag if you prefer and have no concerns about it spilling everywhere.
The bottle is a water carrier with built in rubber 'bowl' attached to the top. This folds up to create the bowl and back down for storage. It is big enough for the dog to get their nose in to drink but not so big it becomes cumbersome.
Squeezing the water from the carrier into the bowl is easy and a slider button control allows the water to stay in the bowl to be drunk. The button can then be pushed to the open position so that any unused water gets returned to the bottle for later use. This is a big plus as you would normally throw any left over water in a bowl away or try to get it back into the bottle.
We really like this travel aid and find it useful not only whilst walking but take it on days out when we need to make sure we have water available.

We really like this collapsible bowl from Lumoleaf. If your dog prefers to drink from a bowl rather than a gadget then this fully portable bowl is perfect for taking on walks. It is lightweight and folds down into a convenient pouch so you can pop into your pocket, hook to your backpack or even belt loop with the carabiner included and you wouldn't even know it was there.
The material is made from food safe cloth and is totally leak proof which means you can fill it when you stop for a break on the trail and it will stay in the bowl until you decide to empty it or your dog does!
The Lumoleaf colllapsible dog bowl comes as a single bowl or can be bought as a two pack which includeds a 2.5L and 2L bowl. So you can interchange or take both when your dog might need a meal when you are out for the day or overnight.

This great space saving package. Two food grade silicone bowls and a neat little zip up case means that this travel accessory is just right for feeding and watering your dog on days away.
The bowls are height adjustable for smaller pets or smaller amounts of food or water. The bowls sit nicely side by side in the case when open. Or you can remove them from the case to use separately.

We thought this dog bowl quite practical with it's large trough which is great for the bigger dogs.
It is made from a lightweight, food grade silicone that can be popped into the dishwasher to keep it perfectly clean.
Most people will carry a bottle of mineral water for themselves when out and about walking and for days out, if you pop and extra one in your bag together with this dog bowl, you dog will be set for the day. When you dog needs to quench his thirst just pop the lid off the water bottle, screw it into the receiver on the Gausslife Portable Dog Bowl and then squeeze the bottle to transfer the contents into the bowl. When he has finished just unscrew, replace the cap on the water bottle and store the bowl away for it next use.
The bowl comes with a string type handle attached which you can use to carry the bowl in your hand. Our preference though was to attach a carabiner to the handle and hook it to our back pack or pop it inside.
